Calling all H28 Yachts in NSW

Letter to the Editor, Afloat Magazine, November 2014

As the NSW representative of the H28 Association of Australia, I am seeking to make contact with as many interested H28 owners/sailors in NSW as I can.

I am initially wanting to do this so I can find out how many may be interested in attending either an informal get together, or just being in email contact with each other so we can share information, blog each other etc. The get together maybe simply a raft up, or it could be a lunch or dinner at a suitable venue (say a yacht club). Tentatively, I am thinking we might do something on/around Pittwater this coming March?

I have been inspired by Ihe Victorian H28 owners/sailors (the most active group and founders/executive members of the Association) who have a regular annual get together.  It consists of a coming together of the Gippsland Lakes H28s with some other sailors who had sailed their yachts, or driven from Melbourne.

They had a sail around the Lakes followed by a dinner at one of the owner's canal front houses.  At the latter, I met the oldest H28 sailor in the world, John aged 93!

With my timber ketch Ada II (pictured above) moored in Middle Harbour off Northbridge, I am aware there are a number of H28s around Sydney Harbour. I am sure there are also a number on Pittwater and other waterways in the state.

Whether you are an H28 owner, crew or just an interested party could you please email me details to the address below.  Also could you let me know what type of activity you might be interested in?

Looking forward to making contact with as many H28 yachties as possible, and sharing stories, information and knowledge about our wonderful little L Francis Herreshoff designed boats.
