The Gippsland Lakes event this year is to be held at the time of the inaugural Paynesville Classic Boat Rally. This event is the first of its kind to be held at Paynesville. It will be run over the weekend of 5th and 6th March 2016. Entries have closed with 140 classic boats registered for this event.
The program consists of a sail past at 11:00am in McMillan Strait, Paynesville on Saturday 5th March, followed by all boats being on display at the Paynesville wharf and marina areas. More details can be found at www.thepaynesvilleclassic.com.au
Visiting members will have plenty to see and ideally should arrive before the 11 am sail past on Saturday 5th March. Sunday activities may include sailing on local boats, subject to availability.

A table has been booked at the Thai Restaurant in the Paynesville Cruiser Club for 7.00pm on the Saturday evening. This will allow those attending the Classic Boat Dance in the Yacht Club to dine as a group prior to the dance commencing. For those not attending the dance, the evening will continue back at the Bower's with deserts, drinks and lots of H28 talk.
If you wish to dine with us at the Cruiser Club, please let Pauline Bower know ASAP so she may confirm booking numbers.
For those wishing to arrive on the Friday evening, it will be the usual wine and pizza making evening at the Bowers.
Cruise to Gippsland Lakes:
Rod Fuller, H28 Shamrock and 2 other boats (not H28s) from Hobsons Bay Yacht Club (HBYC), Williamstown, are planning to depart Melbourne on 24 or 25 February 2016 and cruise to the Gippsland Lakes. Other H28 owners are welcome to join this cruise in company. The planned route is via Queenscliff then to Cleelands Bight, Phillip Island and rendezvous with any boats from Westernport Bay. Cruise to Refuge Cove, Wilsons Promontory and await a suitable weather window to sail to Lakes Entrance. The final leg will be from Lakes Entrance to Paynesville. arriving not later than 3 March 2016 to participate in the Paynesville Classic Boats Rally.
It is anticipated that boats may wish to cruise in company for the return trip. The aim is to arrive back at HBYC Williamstown by 16 or 17 March 2016. Contact Rod Fuller, tel. 0438 529 631, for further details.
