The Herreshoff Rally at d'Albora Marinas Akuna Bay Cowan Creek Broken Bay in Sydney was held for the fourth time on the weekend of 1-2 July 2000.
Herreshoff enthusiasts were invited to bring their yachts to the beautiful anchorage at Akuna Bay on Saturday July 1 for a relaxed get together over the week end including an informal BYO dinner at the Portofino Cafe on the Saturday night. A delicious choice of three courses was available.
Herreshoff yachts are named after the famous American designer Nat Herreshoff, who was well known in the boating fraternity as the "wizard of Bristol". He was enormously well respected for his skills as a yacht builder and designed and constructed many of the winning Americas cup boats. These yachts are well renowned for their ability to handle difficult ocean journeys and vary in size from 25-90ft.
This is a fantastic opportunity for owners of Herreshoff yachts to share their passion together in the surrounding of one of Australia's most beautiful marinas.
Yachts from across Australia have participated in this event since it was first staged in 1997. Owners emphasized that the rendezvous was a great success because of the relaxed and casual nature of the weekend.
Owners are encouraged to spread the word and invite other owners to participate in this popular get together by printing a few copies of this page and keeping them on their boats ready to pass around to any Herreshoff owners they see on the water or by relaying this web address.
