History

A classic L. Francis Hereshoff H28 ketch.

Janessa was built in 1960 in Melbourne by the Rule Brothers, sailing out of Sandringham. Janessa featured in articles in the Seacraft magazine, detailing their adventures cruising Bass Strait. In the late 1980’s she sailed to the Whitsundays and in 1997, cruised to Brisbane. She spent many years cruising the Whitsundays.

In 1999 she was trucked back to Melbourne. The current owner purchased her in 2006 and has brought her back to her condition. She has spent the past 10 years, cruising the Gippsland Lakes. Janessa is a delight to sail and quite a stiff boat, with the additional lead in her keel.
